Types of Plant Materials

Seeds - we plant grasses for lawns and meadows and wildflowers by seed; depending on the specific plant, seeding time can vary from late summer through winter and into late spring

Bareroot seedlings and saplings - bareroot plants must be planted during their dormant time, usually late autumn to early Spring; some plants favor one season or another; in this region, we have seen the best results overall with Spring plantings; bareroots are generally small and inexpensive; they are excellent for reforesting an area

Containerized plants - containerized or balled & burlaped plants will cost more than bareroot plants, but have a much higher success rate in our area; they are available in a much wider range of sizes, including those so large they need special dedicated equipment to plant; above a certain size, they have more trouble adapting to their new location
